Walks, hikes, mountain-climbing - The area around Ártún offers an exceptional variety of hikes and walks. The mountain Kaldbakur (1167 m) offers a welcome and not too demanding challenge (and a breathtaking view) to the experienced hiker (and a comfortable exercise for seasoned mountaineers), while Þengilshöfði (260 m) and Laufáshnjúkur (662 m) present walkers with easier tasks - but a glorious view of Eyjafjörður, none the less.

· The maritime museum in Grenivík (8 km.)
· At Grýtubakki farm (4 km.): Pólarhestar horse-rental,
· "Fjörðungar" in grenivík: Guided tours/hikes to Fjörður and Látraströnd,
the uninhabited areas to the north and east of Grenivík.
· "Kaldbaksferðir" offer wintertrips on snowmobiles to the top of Kaldbakur-mountain.
· Fishing - permits sold for fishing in Fnjóská (runs right past Ártún-campsite) and
Fjarðará in Hvalvatnsfjördur
